Joshua Sipkin of Central New Jersey, is a professional in the hospitality industry with a background in media writing. Additionally, he is an avid sports fan.
While his career trajectory has shifted away from media writing, his early professional work was in sports writing for major news outlets in the New York City region. These years allowed him to utilize the skills he learned while studying communication arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while investing in an industry he loved in one of his favorite cities.
A little over a year after completing his bachelor’s degree, Joshua Sipkin began working as a Digital Producer for ABC Sports Online. Over the next ten years, he moved through several other prominent sports media outlets in the city, including MLB.com, FOXSports.com, and NBA.com. Additionally, he spent a couple of years as the Site Manager and Homepage Editor for Mets.com, the online home of the New York Mets baseball team. These experiences helped Joshua develop his writing skills further, and while he no longer works in sports writing, he continues to put those skills to work on his own personal blogs and in his professional endeavors within hospitality.
Sports has always been more than just a professional pursuit for Joshua Sipkin. Even today, he is still passionate about following NYC sports teams such as the Mets and the Rangers. Additionally, as a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he still cheers for their teams and finds that he really resonates with them. While he follows many different kinds of sports and sees the value in all of them, professional baseball is one of his favorites.
Today, Joshua Sipkin works in the hospitality industry and has held management positions at several upscale restaurants around NYC and his current home in New Jersey. He is currently the Assistant General Manager at 1776 by David Burke in Morristown, NJ, where he is responsible for developing the front-of-house staff hospitality practices as well as hiring, scheduling, and other administrative tasks. Joshua is passionate about professionalism in hospitality and cultivating excellent customer experiences.
In his free time, Joshua Sipkin loves to cook his own food and also enjoys photography. He often travels into New York City, which he still loves to visit regularly, to take photos that capture the experience of living in such a unique place. Additionally, he has developed an interest in food photography and often practices his skills on the dishes he creates in his own kitchen.
